Sometimes life is so overwhelming that I either wake up one morning in shutdown mode or that I wake up in terrible anxiety. There is so much to do, so much to think about and so much uncertainty.
At those moments I know that worry managed to sneak in during the past few days, or even weeks, and started sabotaging my system.
In contrast to women, many men go into shutdown mode when times are tough and they are suffering. They close themselves off from the world and either wait or do the things necessary to get out of it again. But sometimes, those shutdowns are dangerous waters to be in. Some are unable to get out of a shutdown, and a prolonged shutdown can even lead to suicide.
I have had many shutdowns in the past – I had one very recently to be honest – and I always manage to get out of it quickly (a day up to a week maximum) and get back on the horse. I think I found out how this mechanism works with me, and I would like to share it with you in this episode. I hope it might be of help for those who experience the same thing.
